La Paz to La Paz, Baja and the Sea of Cortez: 7 Days
Day 1: La Paz
Embark from La Paz which still today retains a colonial feel. Stroll along the waterfront and enjoy a romantic sunset. Indulge in delicious local cuisine. Explore historic museums or shop for authentic Mexican arts and crafts.
Day 2: Isla Espíritu Santo and Isla Partida
This morning embark to the north and the islands of Isla Espíritu Santo and Isla Partida, which are separated only at high tide. While cruising to Isla San Francisco it's common to see manta ray, seals and thresher sharks. Enjoy some of the best fishing action in the Sea of Cortez east of Espíritu Santo. Spend the night on one of the protected moorings in the Bay of Isla San Francisco.
Day 3: Isla San José
Watch the playful sea lions as the yacht cruises pass Los Islotes Rock at Partida's tip. Continue to Isla San José where hiking amid the unusually tall cactus, and kayaking in the serene lagoon are on the agenda for the afternoon.
Day 4: Bahia Agua Verde
An early start along the Baja coastline offers spectacular scenery. The sands, painted shades of orange and red, meet the sparkling azure waters in beautiful contrast. Drop anchor in Bahia Agua Verde's stunning circular bay, and go ashore for a tour of its arroyos on mule back.
Day 5: Loreto
This morning head to the waters off of Loreto which is Baja's oldest town. This area is famous for the spectacular summer Dorado runs. Fresh fish is on the menu for tonight. Head into port to visit Misión Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó, a Spanish mission dating to 1697.
Day 6: Isla San Francisco
It's a long run back south to Isla San Francisco so the yacht will get an early start. Stop along the way to dip into the clear waters of the Sea of Cortez for some snorkeling amid the rich marine life in a fertile ecosystem that has been likened to the Galápagos.
