Punta Arenas to Ushuaia, Chile & Antarctica: 16 Days
Day 1: King George Island & Deception Island
Join your Chile yacht charter at King George Island and visit an elephant seal colony, then head to volcanic Deception Island. As you enter Port Foster through the narrow 'Neptune's Bellows', the sunken caldera of volcanic Deception Island. See the dramatic cliffs and rock formations of the island at Bailey's Head and see the chinnies surfing in. At Pendulum Cove, take a dip in the natural hot springs.
Day 2: Enterprise Island
Head to Enterprise Island and the mainland Antarctic Peninsula. You will see glaciers, icebergs, humpback whales, penguins and seals in this dramatic ice-scape. Active pursuits include kayaking the icebergs or snowshoeing.
Day 3: Cuverville Island
Cruise on your Chile superyacht charter to Cuverville Island and keep an eye out for krill-eating humpback whales. Go ashore at Cuverville Island and see the busy and animated penguin colony and leopard seals there. Next, cruise to Paradise Bay, anchoring overnight at Skonthorpe Cove.
Day 4: Paradise Bay
Admire the stunning view of calving glaciers falling into the icy sea and undertake some sea kayaking exploration.
Day 5 & 6: Port Lockroy
Cruise out of Paradise cross the Gerlache Strait to the Peltior Channel to drop anchor at Port Lockroy. Visit the historic English military base that housed Operation Tabarin, a classified initiative to counter Nazi intelligence.
Day 7: Anvers Island
Explore with kayaks or take a trip to Arthur Harbor on Anvers Island and visit the U.S. Base Palmer Station.
Day 8, 9 & 10: Drake Passage
Cruise through the Drake Passage to Cape Horn 600nm to the northwest.
Day 11 & 12: Drake Passage & Ushuaia
"Round the Horn", keeping an eye out for albatross, whales and seals. Visit the monument to the souls of lost sailors - the sculpture sings hauntingly in the wind. Return to Ushuaia to disembark.
